Our History
Hope Christian School is a ministry of Hope Baptist Church. In 2003, our church family saw the need to have a Christian school where the academics would be high, the teachers would love their students, and where students would be taught to love the Lord and strive for excellence in all they did. It was evident to our people that secular education in our society had an agenda to undermine Christian values. The church voted in November of 2003 to begin a Christian School in the fall of 2004. WE began with Kindergarten through fourth grade and added a grade each year to provide continuity for the students.
Hope Christian School has been a leader in Christian Education and has earned a reputation for academic excellence. Our graduates have been accepted in many different colleges, Technical Schools and military training schools.
Mission Statement and Purpose
Hope Christian School of Hanover exists for the purpose of providing excellence in academic instruction (Philippians 1:10), with a distinctively Christian world view emphasizing spiritual growth and moral character development in an atmosphere of Christian love (Philippians 4:8). Proverbs 1:10 states that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” Thus, a reverence for God is the starting place for understanding the world around us and the purpose of life.
Hope Christian School exists as a ministry of Hope Baptist Church and, therefore, will operate under our Baptist doctrine as stated in the statement of faith.
Educational Recognition
Hope Christian School meets and exceeds the requirements of attendance and academic standards set by the State of Pennsylvania. We are recognized as a valid school by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and our diplomas are recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education under statute: section 1327 of the code of 1949, (the same statute that applies to public schools).
Hope Christian School is also an affiliate of Keystone Christian Education Association and our teachers annually attend seminars for educational development. They earn Continuing Education Units and are all Certified under the Certification of KCEA for academic excellence. The program examines five critical areas: academic preparation and training, spiritual development, job performance, professional growth, and professional history.
